The Story of Tappancs

Tappancs lives in Guelph, ON with Greg and Brigitta Feher, and little baby Sophie.

Huron’s Izgaga Tappancs pictured (right) at approximately 7 months old, with Greg Feher and his adorable daughter Sophie (also about 7 months old).

What a big baby!!!

Greg writes:

Tappancs is doing fine. We ended up getting him fixed and the doctor decided not to operate on his eye as it doesn’t appear to affect his vision or cause him any discomfort. He still is quite a ball of energy and loves anything that moves but we have gotten to the point where at least we can walk off leash most places. I need a sign on him that says I’m a kuvasz as the “What kind of dog/bear is that?” is a daily question. He has gotten pretty big or at least seems pretty big to us in our house.  He was weighed a few months ago and was at 130 lbs.

We did see a little bit of food aggression a few weeks after you called us to let us know others have been experiencing it, but we worked through it and doesn’t appear to show any anymore. He is for the most part gentle with our 1 year old, but if he gets excited he sometimes forgets how big his paws are so we always have to keep an eye on him. He is very sociable with dogs of all sizes, it’s funny seeing him play with a beagle or any dog that the size of his ankles. He did go through a bark at everything phase at about 6 months, but has gotten better and only barks when he really thinks he needs too.

We are really curious to see how he stacks up size wise to other Kuvaszok. I’ve attached a few pictures.
